Does Fi use my home WiFi?

The Project Fi FAQs state that it will connect with approved WiFi that does not require sign in or passwords. It also says that it can use my home WiFi? This appears to be a contradiction as my home WiFi requires a log in password. Am I missing something or will I have to leave my home WiFi open?

It is saying it will use open wifi that doesn't have a password (as in if your neighbor had open wifi it wouldn't use that since it is un-trusted) but it will use your home wifi if you connect to it with the appropriate password.
