What can I do for my Samsung Galaxy S3 to make it turn on?

Okay, so I've read the other threads on this matter but it did not help me at all. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 from U.S. Cellular, Model: SCH-R530 16GB. It was given to me by my cousin as a present and told me that it crashes. For the first 2 months it would crash, all I had to do was remove the back cover and take out the battery and then reinsert the battery. Worked like a charm. A few weeks ago it stopped working and rarely turns on. I have to plug the charger in WITHOUT the battery and then insert the battery at a weird angle. It sometimes works, after that I have to wait for the phone to recognize the battery and show me that it has a charge. After which I turn on the device, upon booting up it'll often crash. Anything I can do? Like having Samsung replace it?

It may be worth trying a new battery.
