My Phone overheated and now it isn't charging correctly, What should I do?

Hi guys, about two or three nights ago I set my phone on the charger overnight like always and it was a bit warm but i thought nothing of it, the next morning when i reach under to turn it on it is hot to the touch! Now it only will turn on when it says its charging, but it says its dead and when i check on it minutes later its at 100 percent. I tried to turn it on and take it off when it does this but it just says its dead. What do i do? Have i killed my battery or charger?
