"No Contract" phone as a back up.

I have an LG Lucid 3 phone with Verizon contract. If I buy one of the cheap LG "no contract" phones as a back up, will it work on my contract if I swap the SIM card, or will it only work by paying the "no contract" activation and subscription fees?

Welcome to Android Central! In order to use a phone on Verizon, they have to activate it, since it's a CDMA network. (With GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile, all you need to do is insert a SIM.) Verizon is notoriously picky about which phones they allow on their network, so you'd have to make sure that backup phone is approved for Verizon.
