    Went to 3 different free wifi places. Samsung says something like No connection. Can't establish a connection. It is perpetually scanning and finds nothing. The wifis that I have identified say they are "Not in range".

    Welcome to Android Central! What were those places? Were other people accessing the public hotspots there without difficulty?

    Try wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data. The steps for the Tab S should work for the Tab Pro: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-19170
