all my contacts have disappeared

I updated my phone a few hours ago and now I can't access my contacts. It keeps coming up that my contacts are being updated and when I receive messages it's just numbers not names.

Do you know if you have your contacts backed up to your gmail? You can try going in to your settings, accounts, Google, uncheck contacts, and then check them back to re sync. See if that helps.

If you have been saving them to your Google (Gmail) account - and I highly recommend you do - you should be able to just resync them to the phone.

If you have been saving them to Google but now they are gone, this will restore them to any point they were at in the last 30 days:

If you did not save your contacts to Google and did not do manual backups, then sorry, but the contacts are gone.
