You copy or cut to put stuff into the clipboard and paste to get stuff out.

The clipboard is just an area of REM reserved to store things temporarily, there's no more to it than that. (It's the same with the clipboard in Linux, MacOS and Windows.)

If you want a clipboard you can store different things in and manipulate a bit, use an app like Clipper - Clipboard Manager.
