As of a few days ago, my phone stopped giving me ring and vibrate notifications and no matter what I do (defaulting settings, play with volume, check for conflicts) nothing seems to work?

Funny thing is, though, that other notifications work just fine. Google Hangouts, my game apps, and others are all working just fine. It's the default SMS app that won't give me anything.

Welcome to Android Central! Open Messaging, tap Menu>Settings, and check the notification options there. If they're all turned on, then go to Settings>Apps>All, select Messaging, and make sure Show Notifications is checked on.
