I can not use the finger print detection to unlock my phone and it is asking to enter password

I have tried to use my pc and phone together using find my phone app and entering email details but not working

Welcome to Android Central! It's asking for the backup password that you had to enter twice at the time you set up your fingerprint unlock. These passwords are important to remember--you don't remember it? Or did you enter the correct password and it didn't recognize it?

What happens if you fail the unlock several times--does it ask for your Google credentials?
