Why do webshops tell you the Dot View case fits both the M8 and M8s, while it clearly doesn't?

So recently I bought my M8s along with the Dot View case, which according to literally everybody on the internet should also fit the M8s.
Guess what? It doesn't. Since the M8s is slightly thicker (1.5mm - 2mm) than the M8, the case will not fully close, causing ALL of the functionality of the case to be lost.

Does anybody know why webshops tell you it fits both and why nobody else has pointed out this confusion before?
