I never owned a smartphone with a non removable battery.
My question is what to do when the non removable battery gets old & needs replacement? Bring it to the service workshop?

Yes. With some, you may be able to replace yourself.

Thanks for the reply. One reason I prefer removable batteries is one time my Note 2 froze & would not restart. The only solution was to remove the battery.
