I ran the battery down playing a game. The phone shut itself down as usual but when I swapped out the battery for my spare and powered it on it was back on the factory settings asking me to set up my phone. I had text messages and voice memos on the phone and photos on the SD card but when I plugged into my computer to view the files it said there were no files at all (not even the Samsung files for the pre-loaded apps and functions). What happened and is there a way to restore the data and the phone back to the way it was earlier today?

Welcome to Android Central! It sounds like there may have been a major glitch that caused a full factory reset. In that case, any data on the phone is gone, unless you happened to back it up or sync it recently.

But a factory reset shouldn't wipe out data on the SD card as well. What happens if you insert the SD card into your computer and use Windows Explorer? Does it see any of the photos?
