Why am I getting "unfortunately, messages has stopped" ,and how can I get it running again?

Every time I touch Messages icon, it attempts to open but gives me unfortunately messages has stopped. It happened after trying to backup texts on mobileGo app. Can't reconnect now

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Apps>All, select your messaging app, and tap Clear Cache. If that doesn't work, you could try Clear Data (since you said you already backed up your messages).
