How do I EASILY mute my ringer on my 6P?

I mute the ringer with the volume key. The key gets bumped (pocket/handling/what ever) Surprise! My phone rings at the least opportune time. All the discussion around the "new" ways to handle audio in Marshmallow or on the 6P compared to Lollipop is VERY confusing, at least for me. The terminology and descriptions don't make sense. Just give us a simple and full proof way to go to mute.... please. Thank you!
