Should I root my Moto G3 or not?

I just bought a Moto G3 (16gb version). I'm a bit confused. Should I root it or not? I have heard its consequences that one may brick the phone. Is that true? Moreover, is it safe to do so? And is there an alternative to root??

Welcome to the forums.

My advice is, don't attempt it unless you are very confident of what you are doing, and have a good reason for doing do. Rooting is a specialist procedure that is certainly not needed by the great majority of users. If you belong to that great majority, just use the phone as it came from the manufacturer.

Not really. Certain apps and mods require root access. Is there a specific reason you started thinking about rooting your phone?
