Why am I locked out my phone and I never changed the password?

I was going through my setting yesterday and saw that I could set up a backup password. I started the process but in order to do a step my phone had to be 80% charged, it was only on twenty. While it charged I ended up falling asleep. My husband tried to use my phone. He put in the password and it said it was incorrect. I then tried that password and the one that I was going to set up as my back up password neither of them worked. I've even tried the passwords in every way possible. So now i have been locked out my phone for as of now 22 hours.
