Why is my phone adding Characters to the beginning of my text messages when someone recieves them

I send Good Morning They receive *(&)# Good morning. Or /$*) Good morning. the characters seem to be random.

I have had that happen a few times on tmobile. A quick restart fixed it. Does it happen to the same person or anyone?
