Apps not able to write to SD card after Lollipop upgrade? Say it ain't so!!! :(

Is this true?

Am I stuck with the original factory OS?

Questions: I made a backup of my mobile before upgrading & sent it out to my laptop.

If I restore that, should I have my SD in at the time?

Or, if rooting is the way to go, can I get advice on that, as well? Running Sony T2 Ultra Dual-SIM

The stock file manager app should let you write to sd
