HTC Vivid unresponsive, but screen will turn on if plugged in

[AC Question]

My HTC Vivid is unresponsive. But when I plug it in, the screen turns on and I get an error message saying that com.android.phone is not responding. And even though I can't do anything, the operating system seemingly hasn't crashed as the clock widget behind the error message is still running. The phone does not have a removable battery, and holding down the power button and volume down key is not bringing up the boot menu.
