    Every time I look at my phone I have "new" emails. I look, and it's the same ones I have already marked as read 20 times that day. I have deleted and reset-up my account a few times. It seems to insist that these old emails from months ago are "new". I delete junky emails and then I get even older ones loaded.
    I use the Email app that comes standard with the S5

    Settings:
    Hotmail account
    >Receive Notifications
    -> More settings
    Data Usage: Number to load 25 (this is the lowest. I have 25, 50, 75, 100, 200 or total)
    Incoming: Pop3 server with SSL security
    Delete from server when deleted from inbox -> never (I get delete happy and accidentally delete important things. I go through my emails on my computer regularly and delete the extraneous crap)

    Outgoing:
    SMTP with TLS that requires sign-in.

    Basically. Make my phone stop unmarking these emails as read, since they're from 30+ days ago. I have no problems with my Google account.
