Why is Gear VR Bricking My Phone? How do I get rid of it? How is this even a real problem?

I am having the Gear VR glitch on my GS6. The phone becomes completely inoperable even in safe mode. I called tech support with Samsung and the person told me to do a factory reset then get a new phone if that doesn't work. She refused to tell me how to remove the program. Now when I try to reboot in safe mode the phone is unusable. Displays the tiny unclickable x in the bottom corner. Seriously, how can an app be this poorly programmed and how can I get rid of it? What is the file name so that I can perchance delete it via pc?

Unfortunately if a factory data reset doesn't fix it then you will probably have to send it in for warranty replacement.

Is there a way to factory reset it using just buttons? It's completely bricked out.
