HTC One M9 - Calendar app forgets my settings

The Google Calendar app is far better than the HTC one. So, I tried to remove the HTC calendar app but, it turns out, it can't be removed. So, I told the app not to show any of my calendars and to turn off notifications. However,
1) The app still notifies me about events (as does my preferred, Google app)
2) Every so often, the HTC app reactivates / access all my Google calendars. I am sure that I didn't turn this setting back on.

Anyone else having this problem? It's a shame because it's a nice device but I can't recommend it to people with this annoying flaw.

Can you disable the htc calendar app?

No, the HTC calendar app can't be disabled. A session with their tech support folks confirmed that.

Try to clear app data on the app

SOLVED! I went back into the app and found a notifications setting that I had, somehow, overlooked earlier. I turned that off and the app seems to be a non-issue (except that it's still taking up space and, presumably, CPU cycles).
