Why does wifi drain my battery so fast (Samsung Galaxy S6)?

A

AC Question

I bought my Samsung Galaxy S6 phone 2 weeks ago, and initially, I was very happy with the battery life. However, several days ago I went to visit my parents at their house, and the battery has been draining extremely fast the last few days when connected to their wifi.

I tried a hard restart of the phone, factory reset, and turned-off wifi always scanning, but nothing has fixed the issue. When I have wifi on, it is draining the battery 10-15% per hour, even when the phone is not being used. When I turn WIFI off, the battery is great. However, I want to be connected to wifi so that I don't waste all my data. Is this a problem with the battery?

Ok I will have to try that, thanks! On the same wifi network, I also have a samsung tablet and my mother has a samsung galaxy s5. Neither of these seem to have issues with battery drain caused by the wifi , so why would it only be my S6 that is affected? Just curious, because I don't know much about wifi interference. Thanks for the help!
