Pictures from SD card to laptop

[AC Question]

I am trying to upload my pictures to my mac. I tried sony bridge however this took hours and then told me an error had occurred with almost every image. Next I tried an adapter which my micro chip could be used to put into a card reader. This finally worked however it seems to have uploaded only a selected amount of images. I am unsure why because it seems some aren't on my memory card when i look on the computer but when I insert the SD back into my phone, they are there. Please if anyone has a solution could you help as I am trying to make a christmas present but am slowly losing the will to live. Thank you.
