New here, so I hope this is an answerable question...

I'm having a heck of a time getting my kids' new tablets set up for Christmas, and hope I can get some help. The main reason we got them was to use the Dish Anywhere app on them, so we can transfer movies from our DVR to the tablets for our upcoming vacation.

The first time I tried to install it, it said it required google play, which was not supported by my device (it is.) So, deleted the Dish Anywhere ap, updated my google play services app, and re-installed the Dish Anywhere app. Now, when I try to launch the app it just says "Unfortunately, Anywhere has stopped." and crashes to the home screen.

    Tablet specs:
    Lollipop 5.0
    8 GB memory
    4 Core processor

    Any ideas?

The app may not be configured for the device. If you go to Play on your PC, you should be able to see the list of devices you own that it can run on.
