Why isn't the top left button on any app not work?

Any app I use the top left button will not work. I thought maybe it had something to do with the touchscreen but when I switch to landscape mode the top left button will not work also. So I don't think it's the actual screen itself. I tried restarting numerous times but it still doesn't fix it.

My galaxy s3 has also been doing that. I factory restarted it and the problem has been fix. I tired restarting the phone at first, would fix the problem for only a couple of hours
