How do you connect a selfie stick to Samsung S6 phone

Got a new selfie stick for a present- want to know how to get it to work?

Welcome to Android Central! Did it come with any instructions? Is it the type that you plug into the headphone jack, or does it work by Bluetooth?

In general, you have to go to the Camera app's settings, and look for the option to make the Volume button act as the shutter release. Selfie sticks send a signal to the phone to change the volume, which in turn triggers the shutter release when the Camera app is open.
