Unable to sync contacts from my live email id.

So guys, I just shifted from lumia to an android based mobile. I added my live account in the default gmail app. (IMAP/POP3). There is no option for me to sync contacts. I have tried everything to remove the account thinking will re add if but there is no option to remove the account. Long press also doesn't work.
