Samsung S5 blank screen after Android update

[AC Question]

While quietly sitting on the table at lunch yesterday, my S5 asked if it was OK to update android. After pressing 'allow' or 'yes' or whatever started the update, the phone contemplated, cycled off and on, then off again - then went blank. Audio bells & whistles work as if it is running, LED buttons and lights work - but the screen is black and unresponsive, the phone will not receive calls. No simple fix works (battery out / power plug in / swipe to force screen shot / safe mode boot start).

Any ideas?

Flash stock firmware via Odin. You can find a guide little way down the page here. Just make sure you download proper firmware for your device.
