Just received the n6 today and there was a notification to update to 5.1. I downloaded and updated it and now it is in an infinite bootloop- keeps on saying optimising 125 apps. (BTW this was completely stock- I didn't even sign in to my Google account) . I tried recovery mode wipes and endless reboots but nothings working- help please?

Depending on your comfort level, I would suggest you try using the Nexus Root Toolkit ( Nexus Root Toolkit v2.1.0 | WugFresh ) Flash Stock & Unroot option.

No you don't understand- the bootloop- occurred straight after I got the device. So I'm not rooted or anything- as I said I didn't install any apps and I didn't even sign in.

Did you try holding the power button down for like 10 seconds or so? That's the only thing I know that helped me get out of a bootloop when trying to root my Note 10.1 tablet. Hope that helps, but that's about the extent of my help that I can offer.

    Download latest firmware here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
    Then follow this guide:
    https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-get-android-m-preview
Same procedure for all the versions

Post if you have any questions.

    Sorry, but I do understand.

Using the Nexus Root Toolkit, you should be able to easily repair your device, whatever the problem may be. It will reinstall the stock OS. Your only other option is probably to contact whoever you purchased the device from (Google?) and request a replacement.

    Will it void my warranty

There's no point, I didn't enable USB debugging before I updated.

Ok. Get into fastbook mode and try these commands

    fastboot format cache
    fastboot format userdata
    fastboot reboot
I'm not sure about it, but give it a try

I can't imagine that it would have any effect on your warranty, so long as you download and install the correct official OS file.

Absolutely not. Try the root kit first. If you continue to have issues you can get the manufacturer to replace it.

Isn't it an indication of a bad or corrupt download when that happens?

I'm sorry if I sound noobish but can you give me a step by step guide on how I can fix the nexus? Thanks
