Plugged phone into computer and it died instantly

Plugged my phone into my computer via USB and my phone instantly died and won't turn back on. It popped up that Windows didn't recognize the device and my phone died almost immediately and I can't turn it back on. I recently installed Windows 10.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? After disconnecting the USB cable, pull the battery (if possible) for 10 seconds, then reinsert and try powering on again. Hold the Power button for at least 15-20 seconds.
