Quick settings pull down when phone is locked

[AC Question]

I just swapped from Moto G (1st gen) - which died - to 2nd gen 5 inch 4G ie XT1032 to XT1072
Both have lollipop
I could swear that the pull down quick settings was accessible without having to use my pattern unlock, but on the new one I do have to unlock first which is a pain.

False memory perhaps? Is there anything I can do?

Hi, welcome to the forums! Have you already tried swiping down with two fingers?
