I installed the wrong ROM and now my moto g 4g lte thinks its a samsung s4

I tried to install a previous version of android onto my moto g 4g lte but I don't think the ROM was what it said it was. My phone now just cycles through black screen to flashing up the android robot under repair and then back to black screen. Putting it into that fast boot mode doesn't help. Selecting restore or reset or anything just puts the phone back into the off/android being fixed cycle. It also says "connect USB cable" even when connected to the laptop, suggesting the phone can't detect it is connected to the PC. Not sure what to do...
