I have a Galaxy S5 and as I was using it this morning (while not overheated) it looked as if it glitched halfway through the screen horizontally (thin white line through the whole screen). I couldn't get the power menu to come up so I removed the battery and put it back and then hit the power button, it vibrated once, the normal text came up and then as it showed the Samsung logo with the vibrant colors it glitched at the bottom of the screen and froze. Removed battery and tried again, then as the normal text came up it vibrated and then vibrated again and the text came back again and froze.

I am not sure if this is a virus or not but I am having no luck. I have looked some other related questions here and also considered factory reset but I am worried I will lose contacts (Will I?)

    What should I do?

Yes a factory reset will wipe everything. Boot it into safe mode. If it still doesnt work its a hardware issue in which case its going to need to go to a repair shop
