Could a virus have an impact on my battery that makes it refuse to charge fully and run out quickly?

I recently downloaded an app that didn't work, so I uninstalled it, but my phone used almost 3 gigs of data over the next two days, I lost all my photos and downloads and now the battery won't fully charge and every day it gets weaker and weaker.
