When I read my gmail on either my phone or win10 laptop the emails won't sync with the other device. For example, when I read my gmails on the laptop after trashing them they are still present on my phone. I have to trash them all over again. Everything worked fine until my recent upgrade tp win10 from 8.1.

Welcome to Android Central! Which email client are you using on the laptop? I'd suggest using the Gmail web interface, if you're going to use Gmail on your phone as well.

I was hoping not to have to use the web for gmail.......hate the interface. LOL

Was hoping there was a fix as it worked fine under 8.1.

In that case, which email client are you using on the laptop? Is it the stock Email program that came with Windows? Or some other? See if you can go into its account settings and look at the Gmail account. Is it using a POP3 server or IMAP server? Make sure it's IMAP. https://support.google.com/mail/trou.../1668960?hl=en

I am using the win10 mail app on the laptop and it is setup to use the imap for incoming mail and smtp for outgoing mail.

After you delete an email on the Win10 mail app, does it matter if you wait maybe 15 minutes to see if the same email gets deleted on your phone's Gmail app (in case there's some kind of sync interval that the Win10 mail app is using)? Or is there a refresh button on the Win10 mail app, and if so, does it help to click that refresh button right after deleting the email?

I just tested it out myself. If I delete an email from my Gmail account on the Win10 app, it doesn't disappear automatically from my Gmail app on the phone. However, once I click on the Refresh button on the Win10 mail app, the email then disappears promptly from the Gmail app on the phone. I believe this is a limitation of how the Win10 email app syncs with your Gmail account.

Thanks for the update. I was attempting to do the same thing before with no luck. But now it's working just as you describe....and nothing was changed.....sometimes I hate tech. 😄

This is apparently a random event. If I sync after each read email it seems to clear from the phone. But if I read and trash multiple ones it won't sync......weird
