Lost Contacts

[AC Question]

I have a Samsung S4. I didn't backup my contacts before the phone broke. I have a new phone with the old cards. No contacts transferred after I put the old cards in the new phone. Do the contacts live in a folder on the old phone, which I stil have and can see on my computer, to be able to transfer to the new phone via the uploading onto the card? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Contacts saved to the local Phone account are stored in an SQLite database located on a system directory (which isn't accessible to the user if the phone is unrooted). I'm not aware of a method of retrieving these contacts, but you may want to search a more hardcore forum like xda-developers.com for a solution.
