My device has a faulty power button, HTC is "escalating" my issue to try and get it fixed ASAP but until then I have no way of powering on my phone! My power button doesn't seem to be working at all!

Welcome to Android Central! If it doesn't power on automatically when you plug the phone into a wall outlet, then you're probably stuck. The ADB reboot command is worth trying, but I think that will only work while the phone is on (and in order to be able to send ADB commands, USB debugging has to be turned on, which you won't be able to do if you can't turn on the phone).

It will. It can be used to turn the phone off, but when the phone is off, no app or external command can run, so you can't turn it on. You can kill a man - you can't revive a corpse.
