Why won't videos play in apps on Maxx 2?

[AC Question]

New Droid Maxx 2. Videos won't play in youTube or other apps with embedded videos (such as facebook). When I go to the mobile sites (i.e. m.youtube.com) the videos work fine. Both me and my wife got the same phone and everything works on mine, not hers, same network, side-by-side.

Welcome to Android Central! What happens when you try to play a video? Do you get an error message, or does it just stay blank?

Go to Settings>Apps>All, select Android System Webview, and try uninstalling updates, since some updates have been known to mess up video playback on some phones. If that doesn't do anything, you can go to Google Play Store to reinstall the updates, because Android System Webview can be important for security.
