Half my screen shows display, but the whole screen works as far as touch is involved

I replaced my screen and digitizer today, there was an immediate issue, as the screen had a very strong gradient, now it is half black but the whole touchscreen works, i will get a replacement in the mail, but i feel like its a bad connection since the touch still works,, any thoughts?
