I can't get my deleted photos back. What do i do?

I had a couple photo folders deleted by mistake.
I tried getting them back by going into the "photos" app and clicking on "recently deleted"/"trash" but they didn't show up.
I'm really upset because they were photos of people I care about a lot.
Is there anyway I can restore my pictures?
Please answer with the best possible solution. (if any)

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Were those folders in Internal Storage or an SD card? How did you delete them--using a file manager?
