adjust galaxy nexus screen sensitivity

my screen is too sensitive. it sometimes responds while I'm moving my finger just above screen, opening items at random

Welcome to Android Central! Most phones don't have a setting for touch sensitivity, and I'm pretty sure Nexus devices don't.

This might happen if your finger has an excessive electrical charge (e.g., from static electricity). The next time this happens, try touching a piece of metal that's grounded, then try tapping the screen again.
