How can I retrieve photos from a damaged micro sd card?

I have a micro sd card that i have been using in my android phone. I recently returned from a trip to Africa where I used my cell phone to take many pictures. Today, I removed my disk from the phone, loaded it into the adapter that came with it and tried to load the pictures onto my computer. The disk was not detected in my computer. I tried removing the micro from the adapter and it was very difficult to get out. I fear that I may have damaged it? I found another adapter and tried it in there. No results. The disk is not recognized in my phone, camera or in the adapter on my mac. Is there anything else I can try to recover these photos?
