(I KNOW I MESSED UP SO PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST DONT TELL ME I DID)Okay so i bought this real bs phone off of a shopping app and i didnt do my homework on it and theres a no return policy. the problem with thhe phone is its made for overseas plans (apparently its china made and works really great in europe) and so it picks up theyre frequency but not US. i was wondering if i maybe rooted my phone (cubot x17) i could tweak the software to pick up american frequency? basicly on a scale of 1-10 how screwed am i?

It would depend if the radios are in the phone to pickup the frequencies in the US. If they aren't then no software can force it to work.

Well, that is a fine how do you do. Ok, lets start with the basics, what cell company are you using here in the US? Basically any Chinese phone you buy is going to be limited to the GSM companies, AT&T, T-Mobile, and some of the VMOs out there. If you have one of those, it should work albeit without the best data connection unless its locked to a foreign provider, then things get more complicated.
