How to unfreeze Samsung Galaxy Avant?

Chrome was open, on the CVS.com website. Screen timed out. When I turned the screen back on, it was frozen. I've tried to close the Chrome app. It won't let me. And when I try to open up any program, including settings, my phone is unresponsive. I can't do anything with the phone, and the battery is draining at a very fast rate. What can I do? Thank you

I would try to pull the battery, if it is removable.
