Why do i get hissing noise when using sony headphones with phone

I have a pair of Sony mdrzx110nc headphones that worked fine on my Samsung core prime. That phone was stolen and now have an lg Alcatel one touch that doesn't work well with the headphones. I've tried a set of earbuds that I have and they work fine. Also tried an adapter and still get the hissing/static feedback. Plugged the headphones into mp3 player and they were fine. I'm guessing its the phone?
