I have an S4-mini that needs recharging about every other day.

I rarely power off completely. Have disabled many "auto" features, don't surf much, text more than call.

New battery or new phone time?

I experienced similar situation after using my s3 for a year. The battery was terrible but when I replaced it with a new one, it now last for full day with about 20% left
