I have locked myself out of my phone it will not recognise my finger print, how do i get back in?

I used my thumbprint as security to lock the phone but now it does not recognise it. It has asked for a password which I don't have as it never asked me for one when I set it up

I don't know of any devices that would not require you to set that. However, try this:

If anyone knows of a device that allows you to set up fingerprint unlocking without also requiring you to set a backup password, please let us know. It would be a barely credible design weakness and breach of security, assuming that the OS made it possible even.
