How hard will they inspect the device i'm sending in for a replacement?

I have had sound issues with my Nexus 6p since I got it (nearly a week ago). When at low volume (the way I listen to most music), there is a distinctive hiss along with the sound, through both speakers and headphones.

It is especially noticeable when listening to solo piano (as I do frequently, as a music student) and is around 60-70% of the overall volume of the music playing. It is also very noticeable when listening to audio books or watching videos on YouTube where someone is just speaking.

My concern because you only really don't notice it unless you're listening to the device on low volume, and to things that seem quite barebones (Chopin or audiobooks, for instance). They inspect it when I send this one back, so will they charge me for the replacement they sent if they don't replicate the issue or find a cause? As I said, I'm a music student, and I could barely afford the first device, let alone two.

Many thanks,
