Charging stops and starts every few secs when connected to mhl

[AC Question]

Just bought mhl adapter. Have a note 3. Hdmi cords, tv, mhl, and phone works. While it's connected, the phone takes a few secs (like 5-10) to start charging. It'll charge for a few (about 30 secs) then it'll stop charging again, and start charging again after about 5-10 secs again. And it repeats that cycle over and over. How can I fix this? if it's even possible to fix.

Where did you buy the adapter? Is it a Samsung adapter? There are clones being sold everywhere... even on Amazon, supposedly.
